On  Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:00am, New York State Senator Reverend Ruben  Diaz and members of the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization will board  a bus at Christian Community Church, located at 1437 Longfellow Avenue in The Bronx  to travel to Patchogue, Long Island and protest the ongoing  hatred  toward Hispanics in Long Island.  The group will arrive at the Iglesia Evangelical Refugio de Salvacion, located at 102 Railroad Avenue at 12:00 noon.

Senator Nozzolio Hears Concerns at REDCOM

Victor- Senator Michael Nozzolio recently visited REDCOM, a telecommunications company located in Victor, where he discussed the impact of the New York State budget on the company and its employees. Senator Nozzolio spoke about his efforts to reduce State spending and eliminate many of the taxes that were added to this year's state budget. The imposition of a new State tax on healthcare benefits prompted employees of REDCOM to ask Senator Nozzolio for help. Senator Nozzolio met with REDCOM President Klaus Gueldenpfennig and toured the facility as a part of his visit.

SENATOR GOLDEN CALLS FOR CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION LEGISLATION TO BE PASSED DURING SPECIAL SESSION

Senator Martin J. Golden (R,C,I- Brooklyn) has called for the Governor to include legislation that would allow voters to consider a constitutional convention as early as this November.  Golden has introduced S.6065 which would limit costs to taxpayers for a constitutional convention as well as encouraging maximum citizen participation.

Senator Nozzolio Addresses Veterans At The Lyons “Wall Of Honor”

Auburn - Senator Mike Nozzolio participated in the grand opening of the Stardust Entrepreneurial Institute in downtown Auburn where he was honored for his efforts to help establish this new state of the art facility. The Institute is one part of the economic development plan: " A Call to Action: A Blueprint for Success" that was created in 2006 as a way to reinvigorate downtown Auburn and the entire Finger Lakes Region.

Little Urges Governor to Save Tax Dollars on Forest Land Purchases

Senator Betty Little has urged Governor David Paterson to save tax dollars by buying conservation easements on new state lands rather than buying the vast tracts in fee title.  New York State is currently facing a $2 billion budget deficit and the Legislature is expected to convene later in September to take up cost-savings measures.
