Howard Beach, NY (June 29, 2015) “Returning to community policing is the first step toward improving community safety and repairing the relationship between civilians and the police who bravely risk their lives to protect them. ALBANY—Senator Sue Serino (R, C, I—Hyde Park) released the following statement after the conclusion of the 2015 Legislative Session.

Trying to work within the dysfunction that has plagued our Capitol this Session was culture shock, to say the least.

However, despite the turmoil, there was a lot accomplished that has the potential to substantially improve life in the Hudson Valley and beyond. I am especially proud to have been able to:

Statement from Senator Tim Kennedy on the Supreme Court’s Nationwide Legalization of Marriage Equality

“When New York legalized marriage equality in 2011, nobody could have imagined it would have spread nationwide in only four years. For me, affirming the right for two adults to express their love through the institution of marriage was one of the proudest moments I have had during my tenure in the New York State Senate, and I am thrilled that couples nationwide will have access to this fundamental right. The Supreme Court made the right decision both morally and legally, and today is a day to celebrate for the LGBT community and its allies. The fight for full LGBT equality is far from over, but victory has never been closer.”
