Duane tower caught in communication gap

DUANE — Adirondack Park Agency staff issued a permit for an 80-foot cell-phone tower in Duane that may not allow emergency officials to comply with international communication regulations.

And it seems to have come without the applicant's final review.

The Duane tower was in motion through APA when Verizon Wireless started looking to accommodate other carriers after a meeting with local officials and APA staff last month.

— DUANE — Another public-safety incident is raising serious questions about cellular-phone service in the heart of Franklin County.On Sunday, a woman from Rainbow Lake in her late 60s went skiing along the Horse Brook Trails in Duane, according to Gil Paddock, second assistant fire chief for Duane Volunteer Fire Department.“She went to walk her dog and got her vehicle stuck trying to get out.”

Duane officials favor taller cell towers
