BILL NUMBER:A10213 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 226 of the laws of 2003 relating to establishing the Brookville library funding district in the town of Oyster Bay, county of Nassau, state of New York, in relation to extend- ing the period of time during which such library funding district may be established PURPOSE: This bill extends the time period to establish the Brookville library funding district in the Town of Oyster Bay, in Nassau County. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Chapter 226 of the Laws of 2003 as amended by Chapter 446 of the laws of 2008 is amended to extend the expiration date to create the Brookville Library Funding District from 2010 to 2012. JUSTIFICATION: This legislation has been requested by the Nassau Library System. Following the Chapter in 2003 and 2008, the locality missed the deadline to create the library funding district. This legislation simply extends the expired creation date from 2010 to 2012. The Brookville library funding district would serve residents of the Locust Valley Central School District who currently do not have tax-sup- ported library service. The establishment of this library funding district is vital to the continued improvement and advancement of educa- tion and learning for the residents of the serviced area.
