McENENY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Develop- mental Disabilities AN ACT in relation to renaming the office of mental retardation and developmental disabilities as the office of developmental disability assistance THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of law to the contrary, effective April 1, 2009, the office of mental retardation and developmental disabilities, within the department of mental hygiene, as established by chapter 978 of the laws of 1977, is hereby renamed the office of developmental disability assistance. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD01069-01-9
