BILL NUMBER:A10846 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public officers law, in relation to certain residen- cy requirements for certain positions PURPOSE: The purpose of this bill is to allow residents of Nassau, Westchester, Suffolk, Orange, Rockland, or Putnam counties to satisfy the residency requirements of section 3-b of the public officers law, should they be employed in any of the' positions listed in this bill. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends section 3 of the public officers law by adding a new subdivision 57 allowing persons holding any of the titles listed within this section to satisfy the residency requirement of section 3-b of Article 2 of the public officers law if he or she resides in Nassau, Suffolk, Orange, Rockland or Putnam counties after two years of service residing within New York City. JUSTIFICATION: This bill allows for certain types public officers living in these surrounding counties to satisfy the statutory residency requirements for New York City employees. LANCMAN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to certain residen- cy requirements for certain positions THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a new subdivision 57 to read as follows: 57. ANY PERSON HOLDING THE TITLE OF SPECIAL OFFICER, SENIOR SPECIAL OFFICER, PRINCIPAL SPECIAL OFFICER, SUPERVISING SPECIAL OFFICER, EVIDENCE AND PROPERTY CONTROL SPECIALISTS, TAXI AND LIMOUSINE INSPECTOR, TAXI AND LIMOUSINE INSPECTOR (MOTOR VEHICLES), SENIOR TAXI AND LIMOUSINE INSPECTOR, SENIOR TAXI AND LIMOUSINE INSPECTOR (MOTOR VEHICLES), ASSOCI- ATE TAXI AND LIMOUSINE INSPECTOR, SUPERVISING TAXI AND LIMOUSINE INSPEC- TOR, SUPERVISING TAXI AND LIMOUSINE INSPECTOR (MOTOR VEHICLES), EDUCA- TION FACILITIES OFFICERS L1 (FORMERLY SCHOOL GUARDS), EDUCATION FACILITIES OFFICERS L2 (FORMERLY SCHOOL SAFETY OFFICERS), HOSPITAL SECU- RITY OFFICERS, CAMPUS SECURITY OFFICER, CAMPUS PEACE OFFICER, COLLEGE SECURITY SPECIALIST, CAMPUS PUBLIC SAFETY SERGEANT, CAMPUS SECURITY ASSISTANT OR SCHOOL GUARD (SCHOOL SAFETY AGENT) WHO HAS COMPLETED TWO YEARS OF SERVICE AS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE NEW YORK CITY MEDICAL EXAMINER'S OFFICE, NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT, NEW YORK CITY TAXI AND LIMOU- SINE COMMISSION, NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, NEW YORK CITY HEALTH AND HOSPITAL CORPORATION, CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK OR ANY MAYORAL OR OTHER AGENCY OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK SHALL BE DEEMED IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION THREE-B OF THIS ARTICLE IF HE OR SHE RESIDES IN NASSAU, WESTCHESTER, SUFFOLK, ORANGE, ROCKLAND OR PUTNAM COUNTIES.
