AN ACT in relation to  authorizing  the  commissioner  of  environmental
  conservation  to  undertake projects to protect the Montauk Lighthouse
  from shore erosion

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 1 of chapter 535
of the laws of 1945,  as  amended,  the  commissioner  of  environmental
conservation  shall  also  be  authorized  to  undertake  any project to
protect the Montauk Lighthouse from shore erosion,  notwithstanding  the
fact  said lighthouse property is owned by the Montauk Historical Socie-
ty, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws  of  the
state of New York.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
