TITLE OF BILL :

An act authorizing the Gate of Heaven Cemetery to transfer land to the
Cemetery Floral Company


PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL :

To facilitate the land transfer between Gate of Heaven Cemetery and
the Cemetery Floral Company in Hawthorne, New York.

SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS :

Section 1 of the bill allows the trustees for Saint Patrick's
Cathedral to transfer any portion of the Gate of Heaven Cemetery to
the Cemetery Floral Company.

Sections 2 and 3 of the bill describe the land to be transferred.

Section 4 is the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION :

Gate of Heaven Cemetery, which is owned by Saint Patrick's Cathedral,
has negotiated a deal with the Cemetery Floral Company in Hawthorne,
New York. This deal has been agreed to by both parties involved.
However, because Saint Patrick's was created by a State Charter
(Chapter 239 of the Laws of 1817), the Legislature must pass
legislation in order for the deal to be completed.

This act shall take effect immediately.
