BILL NUMBER: S2923 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the correction law, in relation to requiring the division of criminal justice services to include information stating whether a sex offender is in violation of registration requirements PURPOSE : Requires the Division of Criminal Justice Services to provide additional information when sex offenders are in violation of their registration requirements. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1. Amends paragraph (c) of subdivision1 of Section 168-b of the Correction Law, to add whether the sex offender is in violation of the registration requirements. Section 2. Effective date. JUSTIFICATION : Provides information to victims, their families and the community as to the status of sex offender. PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY : 2007-08, S.1277-A; 2005-06, S.1552; 2004, S.6495.

LAVALLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to requiring the divi- sion of criminal justice services to include information stating whether a sex offender is in violation of registration requirements THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (c) of subdivision 1 of section 168-b of the correction law, as amended by chapter 11 of the laws of 2002, is amended to read as follows: (c) A description of the offense for which the sex offender was convicted, the date of conviction [and], the sentence imposed AND WHETH- ER THE SEX OFFENDER IS IN VIOLATION OF THE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD05344-01-9
