AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a certain
portion of the state highway system to be the "Cpl. Paulo Marko Paci-
ficador Memorial Bridge"
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The legislature hereby finds and declares that Corporal
Paulo Marko Pacificador, age 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jose Pacificador of
Shirley, New York, was killed on August 13, 2007, while serving the
United States of America in the hostile action in Qayyarah, Iraq.
Posthumously, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
S 2. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 343-x to read
S 343-X. PORTION OF STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS "CPL.
PAULO MARKO PACIFICADOR MEMORIAL BRIDGE". THE BRIDGE ON THE WILLIAM
FLOYD PARKWAY WHICH CROSSES OVER STATE ROUTE 27 SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND
KNOWN AS "CPL. PAULO MARKO PACIFICADOR MEMORIAL BRIDGE".
S 3. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
as designated pursuant to section two of this act; provided that, to
avoid any confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce,
the designation called for pursuant to section two of this act shall be
one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not
be changed as a result of this act.
S 4. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
have become a law.
