BILL NUMBER: S7458 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to requiring the metropolitan transportation authority to hold hearings in each county that is allocated a voting member of the metropolitan transportation authority on separate days before any proposed changes in services or fares are implemented PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : The purpose of this legislation is to require the MTA to hold hearings regarding changes in fares or service in each county and to limit hearings to per day. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section 1263 of the public authorities law is amended by adding a new subdivision 10 to read as follows: The authority shall hold a public hearing in each county that is allocated a voting member of the metropolitan transportation authority under this section, and that is affected by the proposed changes in services and fares, before any proposed changes in services or fares can take effect; provided, however, that such public hearings shall be limited to one hearing per calendar day.

Section 1263 of the public authorities law is amended by adding a new subdivision 10 to read as follows: 10. THE AUTHORITY SHALL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING IN EACH COUNTY THAT IS ALLOCATED A VOTING MEMBER OF THE METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY UNDER THIS SECTION, AND THAT IS AFFECTED BY THE PROPOSED CHANGES IN SERVICES AND FARES, BEFORE ANY PROPOSED CHANGES IN SERVICES OR FARES CAN TAKE EFFECT; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT SUCH PUBLIC HEARINGS SHALL BE LIMITED TO ONE HEARING PER CALENDAR DAY.
