BILL NUMBER: S3332 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the public officers law, in relation to requiring posting of notice of meetings on the internet PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF THE BILL : The bill amends the Public Officer's Law to require that, when a public body has an existing website, notice of the time and place of a meeting given in accordance with subdivisions one or two of said law, shall he conspicuously posted on the public body's internet website. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section 1 of section 104 of the Public Officer's Law is amended by requiring public body's to post on their internet website the time and place of a meeting given in accordance with subdivision one or two of this section. Section 2 provides for the bill to be effective in thirty days. JUSTIFICATION : Institutions and organizations charged with the responsibility of serving the general public should be required to make the necessary arrangements to allow for as much transparency and openness in their

SERRANO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to requiring post- ing of notice of meetings on the internet THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 104 of the public officers law, as amended by chapter 704 of the laws of 1979 and such section as renum- bered by chapter 652 of the laws of 1983, is amended to read as follows: 1. Public notice of the time and place of a meeting scheduled at least one week prior thereto shall be given to the news media and shall be conspicuously posted in one or more designated public locations AND, POSTED ON THE PUBLIC BODY'S INTERNET WEBSITE PROVIDED SUCH PUBLIC BODY HAS A WEBSITE, at least seventy-two hours before such meeting.
