AN ACT to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in relation  to  the
  sale of liquor over a certain proof

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 4  of  section  107-a  of  the
alcoholic beverage control law, as amended by chapter 490 of the laws of
1993, is amended to read as follows:
  (a)  No  liquor, wine or beer shall be labelled, offered or advertised
for sale unless in accordance with this section and unless the brand  or
trade  name  label  affixed  to  or imprinted upon the container of such
alcoholic beverage shall have been registered with and approved  by  the
authority and the appropriate fee paid as provided for in this section.
  IN  ADDITION,  NO LIQUOR SHALL BE OFFERED OR ADVERTISED FOR SALE WHICH
IS HIGHER THAN ONE HUNDRED SIXTY PROOF, OR A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF  ALCO-
HOL BY VOLUME THAN EIGHTY.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
