AN  ACT  to  authorize certain individuals to take the competitive civil
  service examination and be placed on the eligible list for appointment
  as a full-time police officer  for  the  village  of  Greene  and  the
  village of Oxford, county of Chenango

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of  the  civil
service  law,  or  any other law to the contrary, Ronald Martin, who has
been continuously employed by the villages of Greene and Oxford, in  the
county  of Chenango, as a part-time patrolman, shall be eligible to take
the competitive civil service examination for  the  position  of  police
officer  and  shall,  contingent  upon his score on such examination, be
eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment  as  a  full-
time patrolman for the village of Oxford.
  S 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service
law,  or  any other law to the contrary, Norman L. Shaffer, Jr., who has
been continuously employed by the villages of Greene and Oxford, in  the
county  of Chenango, as a part-time patrolman, shall be eligible to take
the competitive civil service examination for  the  position  of  police
officer  and  shall,  contingent  upon his score on such examination, be
eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment  as  a  full-
time patrolman for the village of Greene.
  S  3. Both Ronald Martin and Norman L. Shaffer, Jr. shall otherwise be
subject to the merit and fitness provisions of  the  civil  service  law
applicable to full-time police officers.
  S 4. This act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT to authorize a certain individual to take the  competitive  civil
  service examination and be placed on the eligible list for appointment
  as  a  full-time  police  officer for the village of Oxford, county of
  Chenango

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil
service law, or any other law to the contrary, Ronald  Martin,  who  has
been  continuously employed by the villages of Greene and Oxford, in the
county of Chenango, as a part-time patrolman, shall be eligible to  take
the  competitive  civil  service  examination for the position of police
officer and shall, contingent upon his score  on  such  examination,  be
eligible  to  be  placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-
time patrolman for the village of Oxford.
  S 2. Ronald Martin shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness
provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi-
cers.
