BILL NUMBER:S2227

TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in
relation to authorizing the retail sale of alcoholic beverages at
eleven a.m. on Sunday

PURPOSE: To allow for the retail sale of alcoholic beverages starting
at eleven AM on Sundays

SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill would allow for
the sale of alcoholic beverages starting at 11 AM on Sundays, current
law sets the time at noon.

Section 2 is the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION: Moving the time from noon to eleven when an
establishment may sell alcoholic beverages for onsite consumption is a
minor change in the law, but will have significant positive impact for
those establishments wishing to serve Sunday Brunch. The noon start
time is an antiquated law that if changed will have a net positive
impact for establishments in New York.

PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New Bill.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: Net Positive to the State

EFFECTIVE DATE: This act will take effect immediately.
