BILL NUMBER:S3781 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to the designation of the "Saratoga County Veterans' Memorial Highway" PURPOSE: To designate a portion of the state highway system as the "Saratoga County Veterans' Memorial Highway". That portion of State Highway Route 32 in Waterford north to its intersection with Route 423 in the Town of Stillwater then continuing both: (a) north along Route 32 past the Saratoga National Cemetery and the Saratoga Battlefield to Wilbur Road in the Town of Saratoga; and (b) west along route 423 in the Town of Stillwater to Route 92 north in the Town of Saratoga and ending at the Route 92 bridge over Fish Creek in the Town of Saratoga shall be designated as the "Saratoga County Veterans' Memorial Highway". SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one- amends the highway law by adding a new section 342-iii which designates a portion of the state highway system as the "Saratoga County Veterans' Memorial Highway". That portion of state highway Route 32 in Waterford north to its intersection with Route 423 in the Town of Stillwater then continuing both:(a) north along route 32 past the Saratoga National Cemetery and the Saratoga Battlefield to Wilbur Road in the Town of Saratoga; and (b) west along Route 423 in the Town of Stillwater to route 9P north in the Town of Saratoga and

MARCHIONE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to the designation of the "Saratoga County Veterans' Memorial Highway" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 342-iii to read as follows: S 342-III. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "SARATOGA COUNTY VETERANS' MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". THAT PORTION OF STATE HIGHWAY ROUTE 32 IN WATERFORD NORTH TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH ROUTE 423 IN THE TOWN OF STILLWATER THEN CONTINUING BOTH: (A) NORTH ALONG ROUTE 32 PAST THE SARATOGA NATIONAL CEMETERY AND THE SARATOGA BATTLEFIELD TO WILBUR ROAD IN THE TOWN OF SARATOGA; AND (B) WEST ALONG ROUTE 423 IN THE TOWN OF STILLWATER TO ROUTE 9P NORTH IN THE TOWN OF SARATOGA AND ENDING AT THE ROUTE 9P BRIDGE OVER FISH CREEK IN THE TOWN OF SARATOGA SHALL BE DESIGNATED AS THE "SARATOGA COUNTY VETERANS' MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of a ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act.
