BILL NUMBER:S5855A

TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in
relation to big game hunting in the county of Livingston

PURPOSE: This bill authorizes hunting of big game with rifles in the
county of Livingston.

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

Section 1 amends item (i) of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section
11-0907 of the environmental conservation law, as amended by chapter
231 of the laws of 2012, to add Livingston county to the list of
counties that are authorized to hunt big game with rifles.

Section 2 amends item (i) of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section
11-0907 of the environmental conservation law, as separately amended
by chapters 111 and 155 of the laws of 2013, to add Livingston county
to the list of counties that are authorized to hunt big game with
rifles.

Section 3 Provides the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION: This bill was requested by the Livingston County Board
of Supervisors in resolution number 2013-203.

In several areas of the State, sportsmen are allowed to hunt bear and
deer with rifles and this change in law would allow the use of rifles
in Livingston County.

LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: This is a new bill.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None to the state.

EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately, provided that
the amendments to item (i) of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section
11-0907 of the environmental conservation law made by section one of
this act shall be subject to the expiration and reversion of such item
pursuant to section 13 of chapter 600 of the laws of 1993, as amended,
when upon such date the provisions of section two of this act shall
take effect.
