BILL NUMBER:S6945 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 365 of the laws of 2005, amending the tax law relating to the mortgage recording tax in the county of Steuben, in relation to extending the provisions of such chapter PURPOSE: To authorize the Steuben County Legislature to adopt and amend local laws imposing a twenty-five cent per each one hundred dollars mortgage recording tax on obligations secured by a mortgage on real property. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 authorizes the Steuben County Legislature to amend local laws to impose a twenty-five cent per each one hundred dollars mortgage recording tax on obligations secured by a mortgage on real property as amended by chapter 74 of the laws of 2011. Sections 2 and 3 are the effective dates of the bill. JUSTIFICATION: By continuing this additional tax revenue it will continue to lessen the burden on the real property tax levy in the provision of necessary government services by Steuben County. O'MARA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend chapter 365 of the laws of 2005, amending the tax law relating to the mortgage recording tax in the county of Steuben, in relation to extending the provisions of such chapter THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3 of chapter 365 of the laws of 2005, amending the tax law relating to the mortgage recording tax in the county of Steuben, as amended by chapter 74 of the laws of 2011, is amended to read as follows: S 3. This act shall take effect immediately except that section two of this act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law and shall expire and be deemed repealed on December 1, [2014] 2017. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD14438-01-4
