BILL NUMBER:S4021 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 335 of the laws of 2005, amending the education law relating to permitting the Madison-Oneida board of educational services to enter into contracts with the Madison Cortland ARC to provide transportation maintenance and repair services on buses, in relation to extending the provisions of such chapter PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill reauthorizes the Madison Oneida BOCES to provide repair and maintenance services on the fleet of buses owned and operated by the Madison Cortland ARC, as previously approved in 2005, 2007 and 2009 and 2012. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Amends Chapter 335 of the Laws of 2005 to permit Madison Oneida BOCES to provide repair and maintenance services on Madison Cortland ARC's bus fleet until July 26, 2013. JUSTIFICATION: Currently, the Madison Cortland ARC - a not-for-profit agency - operates a fleet of buses for transporting its developmentally disabled clients to and from work, social and other activities. In an effort to promote partnerships and ensure that quality, local maintenance and repair services remain available for Madison Cortland ARC's fleet of buses, the New York State Legislature authorized Madison Oneida BOCES to provide the ARC with these much needed services in 2005 for a period of two years which was renewed again in 2007 and 2009.
