BILL NUMBER:S4814 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to the construction of certain facilities for the New York city housing authority PURPOSE: To amend the. public authorities law by authorizing the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York to enter into contracts for construction related services with the New York City Housing Authority. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of this bill creates a new subdivision 28 of Section 1678 of the public authorities law that would authorize the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York to enter into contracts for construction related services with the New York City Housing Authority. Section 2 of this bill sets forth the effective date. JUSTIFICATION: The New York Housing Authority ("NYCHA") spends over $300 million annually for capital projects throughout its 335 developments in New York City. Several of these projects involve rather complex engineering issues associated with an aging infrastructure. This bill would allow NYCHA to contract with the

GOLDEN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to the construction of certain facilities for the New York city housing authority THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1678 of the public authorities law is amended by adding a new subdivision 28 to read as follows: 28. TO ENTER INTO A CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK CITY HOUSING AUTHORITY, PURSUANT TO WHICH ONE OR MORE FACILITIES OWNED OR OPERATED BY THE NEW YORK CITY HOUSING AUTHORITY LOCATED IN THE CITY OF NEW YORK ARE TO BE CONSTRUCTED, RECONSTRUCTED, DEMOLISHED, IMPROVED, MODERNIZED, RENOVATED OR EXPANDED FOR SUCH AUTHORITY.
