  Parks and Recreation

AN ACT to amend chapter 371 of the laws of  1997,  amending  the  parks,
  recreation  and historic preservation law relating to establishing the
  Mohawk Valley heritage  corridor  commission  and  providing  for  the
  membership  and  powers and duties thereof, in relation to the expira-
  tion thereof

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1. Section 4 of chapter 371 of the laws of 1997, amending the
parks, recreation and historic preservation law relating to establishing
the Mohawk Valley heritage corridor commission  and  providing  for  the
membership  and  powers and duties thereof, as amended by chapter 218 of
the laws of 2007, is amended to read as follows:
  S 4. This act shall take  effect  on  the  first  day  of  April  next
succeeding the date on which it shall have become a law, provided howev-
er that prior to such effective date the Mohawk Valley heritage corridor
planning commission created pursuant to section 13 of chapter 666 of the
laws  of  1994  shall continue and shall be deemed to have the necessary
and appropriate authority, consistent with section one of this  act,  to
implement the Mohawk Valley heritage corridor management plan, if it has
been  approved  by  the  commissioner  of parks, recreation and historic
preservation, until the organization meeting of the Mohawk Valley herit-
age corridor commission, created by  this  act,  is  held  and  provided
further  that effective immediately the appropriate authorities may take
actions necessary to make appointments to  the  Mohawk  Valley  heritage
corridor  commission  before  the  effective  date of this act; provided
further that article 37 of title G of the parks, recreation and historic
preservation law as added by section one of this act shall expire  April
1,  [2013] 2023 when upon such date the provisions of such article shall
