BILL NUMBER:S7463 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the parks, recreation and historic pres- ervation law, in relation to reduced fees for the use of campsites PURPOSE: To provide persons who are sixty years of age or over with a forty percent discount on any fees charged for the use of public camp- sites, parks and other public places of recreation. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends the Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation Law by adding a new section 13.32. This section provides that residents of the State who are sixty years of age or over shall receive a forty percent discount on any fees charged for the use of public campsites, parks and other places of recreation in New York State. Section 2 provides the effective date. JUSTIFICATION: Many people who are sixty years of age or over have retired or will be retiring. Upon retirement, they no longer earn their previous salary. Rather, they may receive a small pension or have other sources of income that are less than what they earned prior to retire- ment. Therefore, in recognition of their reduction in income, this legislation will provide any person sixty years of age or over with a forty percent discount on any fees charged for the use of public camp-

RITCHIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation AN ACT to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in relation to reduced fees for the use of campsites THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The parks, recreation and historic preservation law is amended by adding a new section 13.32 to read as follows: S 13.32 REDUCED FEES FOR THE USE OF CAMPSITES. NOTWITHSTANDING THE PROVISIONS OF ANY OTHER LAW, RESIDENTS OF THE STATE WHO ARE SIXTY YEARS OF AGE OR OVER SHALL BE PERMITTED TO USE ANY OF THE PUBLIC CAMPSITES, PARKS AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES OF RECREATION IN THIS STATE, UPON THE SAME TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS APPLY TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, EXCEPT THAT THEY SHALL RECEIVE A FORTY PERCENT DISCOUNT ON ANY FEES CHARGED FOR THE USE OF SUCH CAMPSITES, PARKS AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES OF RECREATION.
