BILL NUMBER:S1393 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the executive law, in relation to designating the Bronx river as an inland waterway for purposes of waterfront revitalization PURPOSE: Designates the Bronx River as an inland waterway SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends paragraph (b) of subdivision 4 of section 911 of the executive law, as separately amended by chapters 265, 272, 298, 310 and 311 of the laws of 2014, by adding the Bronx River to the definition of "inland waterways." Section 2 contains the effective date. JUSTIFICATION: The Bronx River plays a vital role in Westchester County and is within the Long Island Sound watershed. Classifying it as an inland waterway would help to provide federal funds to restore and protect the river,

MURPHY, LATIMER, STEWART-COUSINS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to designating the Bronx river as an inland waterway for purposes of waterfront revitalization THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision 4 of section 911 of the execu- tive law, as separately amended by chapters 265, 272, 298, 310, and 311 of the laws of 2014, is amended to read as follows: (b) the state's major rivers comprised of the Allegheny, Ausable, Battenkill, Black, Boquet, BRONX, Canisteo, Chaumont (including Chaumont bay), Chemung, Cohocton, Delaware, Deer, Genesee, Grasse, Great Chazy, Hoosic, Hudson north of the federal dam at Troy, Indian, Little (in the Adirondack park), Little Ausable, Little Salmon (including north and south branches), Mad, Mettowee, Mohawk, Oswegatchie, Racquette, Sacanda- ga, Salmon, Saranac, Schroon, Susquehanna, Tioga, Tioughnioga, Wallkill and Buffalo rivers, and the north and middle branches of the Moose river; S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD02875-01-5
