BILL NUMBER:S4125 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the Nassau county civil divisions act, in relation to the Port Washington police district PURPOSE: This bill would codify the application of section 119-o of the general municipal law and section 67 of the town law, which would enable the Port Washington Police District to enter into municipal cooperative activities and provide the District a uniform procedure for claims actions against the District. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill amends Article 2 of title 3 of chapter II of section 1 of chapter 273 of the laws of 1939 constituting the Nassau county civil divisions act by creating two new sections § 320.0 321.0. § 320.0 will provide that section 119-o of the general municipal law shall be deemed applicable to municipal cooperative activities. § 321.0 will provide that section 67 of the town law shall govern the

Article 2 of title 3 of chapter II of section 1 of chapter 273 of the laws of 1939 constituting the Nassau county civil divisions act is amended by adding two new sections 320.0 and 321.0 to read as follows: S 320.0 APPLICATION OF SECTION 119-O OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL LAW. THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 119-O OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL LAW SHALL BE DEEMED APPLICABLE TO MUNICIPAL COOPERATIVE ACTIVITIES. S 321.0 APPLICATION OF SECTION 67 OF THE TOWN LAW. THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 67 OF THE TOWN LAW SHALL GOVERN THE PRESENTATION OF CLAIMS ACTIONS AGAINST THE DISTRICT. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. Section 2 sets the effective date. JUSTIFICATION: The Port Washington Police District is the only Police District in New York State.
