BILL NUMBER:S5263 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the general municipal law, in relation to adopting local laws to regulate taxicabs and limousines in the county of Suffolk PURPOSE: To make a technical amendment to Chapter 382 of the Laws of 2012. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: The term local laws is added to the provisions Section 181 of the General Municipal Law as it relates to Suffolk County JUSTIFICATION: When Chapter 382 of the Laws of 2012 was enacted, the provisions of the legislation allowed Suffolk County to adopt ordinances providing for the registration and licensing of taxicabs and limousines within the County. This bill would add the term local laws since Suffolk County enacts local laws rather than ordinances. LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New bill. FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None. EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately.
