BILL NUMBER: S6398 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend chapter 412 of the laws of 2015 to legalize, validate, ratify, and confirm certain actions of the Oneonta Fire District relating to its operation, in relation to specification of Oneonta Fire District operations PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : This bill would enact a chapter amendment to chapter 412 of the laws of 2015 (S.4541) to clarify an end date of December 31, 2015, and that the ratification of the actions of the Oneonta fire district that this chapter of laws provides, would include all contracts and the calling and conducting of the 2015 annual election for fire district officers. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : This bill would amend the unconsolidated law, to clarify an end date of December 31, 2015, and that the ratification of the actions of the Oneonta fire district that this chapter of laws provides, would include all contracts and the calling and conducting of the 2015 annual election for fire district officers. The original bill would have simply ratified all previous acts of the Oneonta Fire District, from 2010 until the election of new

SEWARD -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend chapter 412 of the laws of 2015 to legalize, validate, ratify, and confirm certain actions of the Oneonta Fire District relating to its operation, in relation to specification of Oneonta Fire District operations THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1 of chapter 412 of the laws of 2015 to legalize, validate, ratify, and confirm certain actions of the Oneonta Fire District relating to its operation, is amended to read as follows: Section 1. All the acts done and proceedings heretofore and hereafter had and taken or caused to be had and taken, by the Oneonta Fire District within the Town of Oneonta and by all officers, employees or agents of such district beginning in the year 2010 and ending [upon the legal appointment or election of the commissioners of such district in 2015] PRIOR TO DECEMBER 31, 2015, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE APPROVAL OF ALL CONTRACTS AND THE CALLING AND CONDUCTING OF THE 2015 ANNUAL ELECTION FOR FIRE DISTRICT OFFICERS, where such acts and proceedings are consistent with article 11 of the town law or any other relevant provision of law are hereby legalized, validated, ratified and confirmed, notwithstanding any failure or defect of the district to comply with section 175 of the town law during such period. S 2. This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as chapter 412 of the laws of 2015 takes effect.
