CONGRATULATING Donna Dixon upon the occasion of
her retirement after almost 30 years of
distinguished service to Clinton Community College

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the distinguished athletic coaches who serve the youth of this great
Empire State and who have distinguished themselves and their teams
through outstanding commitment and exemplary athletic achievements; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Donna Dixon upon the occasion of her retirement after
almost 30 years of distinguished service to Clinton Community College;
and

WHEREAS, In 1995, Donna Dixon began her coaching career, spanning
almost three decades, at Clinton Community College as a part-time
basketball coach until 2000, when she was brought on to coach full-time;
during this period, she also worked with both the girls' soccer and
softball teams; and

WHEREAS, Donna Dixon then changed course and coached at Seton
Catholic for three years before returning to Clinton Community College
for two years until she officially retired in November of 2021; and

WHEREAS, In her almost 30 years of coaching, Donna Dixon led her
teams to great success, including the 2010 National Junior College
Athletic Association Division III Soccer Championship; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Donna Dixon truly cared about each
and every one of the 500 students she has worked with at both Clinton
Community College and Seton Catholic; she has always stressed patience
is the key to success, and it is obvious her mantra has greatly
benefitted all the student-athletes she has helped to reach their goals;
and

WHEREAS, Before coaching, Donna Dixon played sports at Plattsburgh
State from 1985-1990, where she was selected to the SUNYAC all-star team
all four years and named Player-of-the-Year her junior year; in 2004,
she was inducted into the Cardinal Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, In her much-deserved retirement, Donna Dixon enjoys
spending time with her beloved daughter Addison, and continues to work
at Clinton Community College in admissions and as an instructor; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to now record its
recognition and appreciation in honoring an outstanding coach whose
dedication and achievements have been instrumental in developing
character and sportsmanship in high school and collegiate athletes,
exemplifying the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Donna Dixon upon the occasion of her retirement after
almost 30 years of distinguished service to Clinton Community College,
and with her great success in all her future endeavors; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Donna Dixon.
