MEMORIALIZING Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim
April 24-30, 2022, as Medical Laboratory
Professionals Week in the State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
give outstanding service to the people of this Empire State and whose
extraordinary achievements save lives and keep people healthy profoundly
strengthen our shared commitment to family and community life; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to memorialize
Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim April 24-30, 2022, as Medical
Laboratory Professionals Week in the State of New York, in conjunction
with the observance of National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week;
and

WHEREAS, This 47th anniversary of Medical Laboratory Professionals
Week, commemorates the professionals who worked endlessly throughout the
pandemic, playing a vital role in combating rising health crises at a
national level; and

WHEREAS, The 300,000 Laboratory professionals in the United States
and the 13,733 in New York State, are highly-trained specialists who
perform and evaluate crucial tests to detect and diagnose disease, and
monitor treatment; and

WHEREAS, Laboratory professionals have administered millions of
COVID tests throughout the pandemic that ensure the health of the nation
and innovated new methods of testing and treatment that will help
sustain national health in the future; and

WHEREAS, National medical laboratory professional's week serves to
educate the public, government, and private sectors about their vital
roles; and

WHEREAS, With the public now demanding the assurance of quality
health care and professional accountability, the essential role of the
medical laboratory professional has increased significantly; and

WHEREAS, Americans benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of
these highly trained individuals and it is appropriate to recognize the
value and accomplishments of medical laboratory professionals by
designating a special week in their honor; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim April 24-30, 2022, as
Medical Laboratory Professionals Week in the State of New York; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of New
York.
