CONGRATULATING Gabbie McFarren upon the occasion
of becoming a member of the 1,000-point club, one of
high school basketball's most exclusive groups

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Gabbie McFarren upon the occasion of becoming a member of the
1,000-point club, one of high school basketball's most exclusive groups;
and

WHEREAS, A senior on the Hartford High School Varsity Girls
Basketball Team, Gabbie McFarren scored 17 points to record her 1,000th
point during a game against Whitehall High School on January 28, 2022;
this monumental accomplishment made her the 10th Tanager all time and
the sixth girl to reach the mark; and

WHEREAS, Gabbie McFarren's exceptional prowess on the court led the
Tanagers to an outstanding 20-5 overall record, the Section 2 Class D
Championship, and to the New York State Final Four; and

WHEREAS, This sharpshooter was named to the Adirondack League First
Team and the New York State Class D Third Team; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by Gabbie McFarren is due in
great part to the efforts of Coach Jason Johnson, a skilled and
inspirational tutor, respected for his ability to develop potential into
excellence; and

WHEREAS, Gabbie McFarren's performance throughout the season has
been outstanding and she has been loyally and enthusiastically supported
by family, fans, friends and the community at large; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success
in athletic competition, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
exemplary athlete now stands honorably, with just pride in her
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by her coaches, teachers, and parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Gabbie McFarren upon the occasion of becoming a member of
the 1,000-point club, one of high school basketball's most exclusive
groups; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Gabbie McFarren and Coach Jason Johnson.
