LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Jayanth V. Rao, M.D. upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition by Lutheran HealthCare on May
19, 2012

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Jayanth V. Rao, M.D. has given not only of his time and ener-
gies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Jayanth V.
Rao, M.D. upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by Lutheran HealthCare, to be celebrated at its 129th Annual Dinner
Dance on May 19, 2012, at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers, New York, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Physician Honoree Dr. Jayanth V. Rao is the current Chairman
of Radiology and has been a member of the Lutheran HealthCare family for
nearly 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Jayanth V. Rao received his M.B.B.S. at the Government
Medical College in Bangalore and joined Lutheran in 1991 as an Associate
Attending Radiologist; and
WHEREAS, In 1995, Dr. Jayanth V. Rao was appointed as Section Chief of
Cross Sectional Imaging and was later named Chair in 2003; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure at Lutheran HealthCare, Dr. Jayanth V.
Rao has brought its imaging capabilities to new heights through the
implementation of the Picture Archiving and Communication Systems
(PACS), the establishment of the Vascular Laboratory, and most recently
through the installation of Brooklyn's first 3-D breast imaging and
tomosynthesis unit; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Jayanth V. Rao is highly regarded by his peers and a
beloved member of the Lutheran family; and
WHEREAS, Jayanth V. Rao, M.D. has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jayanth V. Rao, M.D. has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Jayanth V. Rao, M.D. has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jayanth V. Rao M.D. upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by Lutheran HealthCare on May 19, 2012; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jayanth V. Rao, M.D.
