LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to
proclaim March 1, 2011, as Day of the Tax Professionals in the State of
New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to proclaim specific
days that recognize those within our midst who have contributed to the
quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to memorial-
ize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim March 1, 2011, as Day of the
Tax Professionals in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Day of the Tax Professionals will celebrate and recognize the
contribution of the Tax Professionals who serve the State of New York by
helping millions of taxpayers file their personal and business tax
returns; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Day of the Tax Professionals will promote the
cooperation of these professionals to work for the taxpayers with a high
grade of education, technical skills, ethics and morals; and
WHEREAS, The Latino Association of Tax Preparers, Inc. (LATAX) has the
commitment to provide all members the chance for education to improve
their skills and in this way to best all customers; and
WHEREAS, As of the last numbers released from the New York State
Department of Finance, Office of Processing and Taxpayer Services, they
have registered 63,000 tax practitioners under the new regulations in
effect from 2009; approximately 98% are tax practitioners; and
WHEREAS, Tax Professionals play a vital role in the financial life of
the citizens of New York State; it is the sense of this Legislative Body
to bring attention to their strengths, services and devotion they
provide to the 9,203,531 taxpayers who filed returns in the fiscal year
2008 and around the country; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim March 1, 2011, as Day
of the Tax Professionals in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New
York.
