LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Joseph A. Santigate upon the occasion of
his designation as Man of the Year by Local Union No. 3 IBEW

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Joseph A. Santigate has given not only of his time and ener-
gies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Joseph A.
Santigate upon the occasion of his designation as Man of the Year, to be
celebrated at the El Caribe in Mill Basin, New York on March 24, 2012;
and
WHEREAS, Joseph A. Santigate was initiated into Local Union No. 3 IBEW
in 1984; and
WHEREAS, Subsequent to completing his apprenticeship in 1996, Joseph
A. Santigate worked as Journeyman Wireman, Sub-Foreman, Foreman and
Shop Steward for construction; and
WHEREAS, Joseph A. Santigate also served as Assistant Superintendent
of James Volpe Electric; and
WHEREAS, Former President of Staten Island Electrical Club, Joseph A.
Santigate was recently appointed Assistant Business Manager of IBEW; and
WHEREAS, Joseph A. Santigate is a member of Local 3: Hardship Commit-
tee and the Election Committee, and an employee representative for
Staten Island Con Edison and National Grid; and
WHEREAS, Joseph A. Santigate has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A valuable and involved member of his community, Joseph A.
Santigate has coached CYO sports programs at Our Lady of the Sea and the
South Shore Little Leagues on Staten Island; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Joseph A. Santigate has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Lori-Ann, and their
children, Joseph IV, and Gia, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Joseph A. Santigate has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joseph A. Santigate upon the occasion of his designation as Man of
the Year by Local Union No. 3 IBEW; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joseph A. Santigate.
