LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Blumer Dairy in Alexander, New
York, upon the occasion of its designation as 2012 Conservation Farm of
the Year by the Genesee County Soil and Water Conservation District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business organ-
izations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, The agricultural industry is part of the foundation upon
which our distinct American Heritage is built; New York State and the
entire United States are dependent on our agricultural industry for a
variety of food and dairy products; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Blumer Dairy in Alexander, New York, upon the occasion of its
designation as 2012 Conservation Farm of the Year by the Genesee County
Soil and Water Conservation District; this auspicious occasion will be
celebrated during the Celebrate Agriculture Dinner, to be held on Satur-
day, March 23, 2013, at the Alexander Firemen's Recreation Hall in Alex-
ander, New York; and
WHEREAS, Owners Dave and Val Patten of Blumer Dairy on Route 98 in
Alexander, New York, installed a 3.2 million gallon manure lagoon in a
neighborhood friendly and ecologically sound manner; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Blumer Dairy engaged in a series of other envi-
ronmental initiatives demonstrating that conservation is an ongoing
priority of Dave and Val Patten; and
WHEREAS, As a result of the outstanding efforts by Dave and Val Patten
of Blumer Dairy to improve and enhance conservation and the environment,
the Genesee County Soil and Water Conservation District designated the
dairy as the 2012 Conservation Farm of the Year; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and business organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments
are brought to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citi-
zens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Blumer Dairy in Alexander, New York, upon the occasion of
its designation as 2012 Conservation Farm of the Year by the Genesee
County Soil and Water Conservation District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dave and Val Patten.
