LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Joseph's
House, Troy, New York, on March 26, 2013

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those organizations and
individuals who provide exemplary service, whether through participation
in voluntary programs, through unique personal achievement in their
profession or other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of good
citizenship; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to celebrate the 30th
Anniversary of Joseph's House, Troy, New York, on March 26, 2013; and
WHEREAS, In 1982, Joseph's House was created in an effort to address
the needs of the increasing homeless population within the community;
three decades later, this vital organization has grown significantly in
size and services provided for the homeless community in Troy, New York;
and
WHEREAS, A community-based, not-for-profit corporation, Joseph's House
mission is to prevent and alleviate homelessness; its programs offer
emergency shelter, permanent housing, support services, hospitality and
guidance to homeless individuals, youth, and families; and
WHEREAS, Joseph's House offers non-judgmental services where each
guest's dignity and worth are recognized and respected; it guides guests
in getting help from community agencies and acts as an advocate to the
homeless to address immediate and long-term needs; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Joseph's House provides an opportunity for
people from the local community to volunteer in service to the homeless;
and
WHEREAS, The success of the Joseph's House is in direct correlation to
the efforts of its administration, staff, and volunteers, whose involve-
ment is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment,
an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the House and the population it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Joseph's House, Troy, New York, on
March 26, 2013, and to wish it continued success in the years to come;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joseph's House.
