LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Albany Academy Boys Basketball
Team and Head Coach Brian Fruscio upon the occasion of capturing its
first New York State Class A Federation Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, The Albany Academy Boys Basketball Team are the New York
State Class A Federation Champions; the Cadets represented the Associ-
ation of Independent Schools Athletic Association with a victory over
PSAL champion John Adams 50-36 at the Times Union Center in Albany, New
York, on Saturday, March 23, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Winning the championship in the year of the School's 200th
Anniversary, the Albany Academy Cadets are the only Capital Region Team
to ever win a Class A Federation Title; in winning its first state
title, Albany Academy had destiny on its side after the Cadets scored on
a buzzer-beating three pointer with 1.7 seconds left to beat Nazareth in
the Friday, March 22, 2013 semifinal; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Coach Brian Fruscio and Assistant Coaches Jim
Hart, Jim Mextorf, Hamlet Tibbs, Patrick Neary, Larry Knapek, Greg
Davis, and Vince Zabinski, skilled and inspirational tutors, respected
for their ability to develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, The team's overall record of 16-4 is outstanding, and the
team members were loyally and enthusiastically supported by family,
fans, friends and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, The hallmarks of the Albany Academy Boys Basketball Team,
from the opening game of the season to participation in the Champion-
ship, were a brotherhood of athletic ability, of good sportsmanship, of
honor and of scholarship, demonstrating that these team players are
second to none; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the team members have proven
themselves to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favor-
ably on their school; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Brian Fruscio and his dedicated staff have done a
superb job in guiding, molding and inspiring the team members toward
their goals; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Coach Brian Fruscio and his outstanding athletes
have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a
tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Albany Academy Boys Basketball Team; its members:
Anthony Sidoti, Darren White, Riley Naclerio, Andrew Dufort, John Mouto-
poulos, Steve Low, Rory Flaherty, Matt Knezovic, Ray Jerome, Nick Frus-
cio, Sal Arena, Dan Padalino, Jack Morrow, Teigue Donohoe, Ben Brown,
Evan Mextorf, Anthony Brock, Karl Signor, Rob McCormick, and Marcus
Jackson; Coaches: Brian Fruscio, Jim Hart, Jim Mextorf, Hamlet Tibbs,
Patrick Neary, Larry Knapek, Greg Davis, and Vince Zabinski; Head of
School Dr. Douglas North; Associate Head of School Scott Milliken;
Athletic Director Paul Gallucci; Athletic Trainer Ron Hutchins; Equip-
ment Manager Tom Frame; Score Keeper Paul Perrotta; and PA Announcer Jim

Malone; as well as Student Managers Adam Grego, Kam Filanova, Lamine
Gueye, and E.R. Spada on their outstanding season and overall team
record; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Albany Academy Boys Basketball Team and to the aforemen-
tioned coaches and staff.
