LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lee Wynn upon the occasion of his
retirement after 33 distinguished years to the New York State Office of
Children and Family Services

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lee Wynn upon
the occasion of his retirement after 33 distinguished years to the New
York State Office of Children and Family Services, to be celebrated on
Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Schuyler Inn in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Lee Wynn started with the New York State Office of Children
and Family Services in 1981 at the Tryon School for Boys Campus in
Johnstown, as a youth division aide; less than a year later, he was
promoted to youth division counselor; and
WHEREAS, Lee Wynn has also held positions at the Cass Residential
Center in Rensselaerville, the Brace Residential Center in Masonville,
the Harlem Valley Secure Center in Wingdale, and the McCormack Secure
Center in Brooktondale; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Lee Wynn served as director of the Albany Group
Home in 1999, and as assistant director at the Tryon Boys Campus; in
2003, he became facility director at Tryon; and
WHEREAS, From 2007-2009, Lee Wynn served as the director of the Even-
ing Reporting Center in Albany, and from 2009 to 2013, he was the
assistant director of the Brookwood Secure Facility in Claverack; and
WHEREAS, Prior to coming to New York, Lee Wynn worked as a high school
biology teacher and was a basketball coach in his home state of Alabama
where he grew up and attended high school; he graduated from Alcorn
State University in Lorman, Mississippi, where he played Division I
varsity basketball for four years advancing to the 2nd round of the NCAA
Tournament in 1980; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Gloversville, New York, with his wife, Joicelyn
and their three daughters, Lee Wynn is a family man, community leader,
educator and motivator; his heart and energy are always focused on the
needs of children; and
WHEREAS, Designated an August 2006 New York State Office of Children
and Family Services Male Role Model of the Year, Lee Wynn was named in
"The Heritage Registry of Who's Who"; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Lee Wynn was governed by a keen sense
of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the New York State Office of Children
and Family Services, Lee Wynn earned the admiration, esteem and
affection of his colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lee Wynn upon the occasion of his retirement after 33 distin-
guished years to the New York State Office of Children and Family
Services; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lee Wynn.
