LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring David Sexton upon the occasion of his
designation by the Harvard Club of Long Island as a Distinguished Teach-
er of 2013

WHEREAS, Individuals who distinguish themselves in their profession and
in service to their community merit the highest commendation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, this Legislative Body is justly
proud to honor David Sexton upon the occasion of his designation by the
Harvard Club of Long Island as a Distinguished Teacher of 2013; and
WHEREAS, He was honored at the Harvard Club of Long Island's annual
University Relations Lunch on April 7, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Harvard Club of Long Island's awards recognize people who
transform the future; dedicated teachers such as David Sexton expend
unfathomable amounts of time and energy on their students day after day
and year after year; and
WHEREAS, David Sexton, who has worked at Sewanhaka High School for 11
years, primarily teaches physics but has also taught chemistry and
science research; and
WHEREAS, David Sexton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry
from the University of Buffalo and a master's degree in environmental
engineering from Manhattan College; and
WHEREAS, Before beginning his career as a teacher, he worked as an
environmental engineer in the field of municipal and industrial wastewa-
ter treatment; and
WHEREAS, David Sexton truly merits recognition by the Harvard Club of
Long Island as a Distinguished Teacher of 2013; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend David Sexton upon the occasion of his designation by the Harvard
Club of Long Island as a Distinguished Teacher of 2013; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to David Sexton.
