LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Kathleen Buscemi upon the occasion
of her induction into the Fontbonne Hall Academy Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Kathleen Buscemi upon the occasion of her induction into the Font-
bonne Hall Academy Hall of Fame; this auspicious occasion will be
celebrated at the Academy's Fleur de Lys Dinner Dance, to be held on
Wednesday, May 1, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Fontbonne Hall Academy is an all-girls, private, Roman
Catholic high school in Brooklyn, New York; it was established in 1937
by the Sisters of St. Joseph, and is located within the Roman Catholic
Diocese of Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Born in Queens, New York, Kathleen Buscemi grew up in Floral
Park, New York; she spent her formative years in Catholic school, and
was influenced by the education she received there; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen Buscemi attended Our Lady of the Snows Elementary
School and Bishop Reilly High School, which is now known as St. Francis
Preparatory School in Fresh Meadows; upon graduation from Bishop Reilly,
she attended Queens College, receiving a B.A. degree in Education in
1974, followed by an M.S. degree in Special Education in 1976; and
WHEREAS, In 1974, Kathleen Buscemi began her career in education at
Holy Child Jesus School; she taught there from September 1974 until June
1981; she began her ten year tenure at Saint Fidelis School in 1992,
where she taught until June 2002; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen Buscemi returned to Queens College and received a
Professional Diploma in Social Studies Education in 1995; in September
2002, she became Principal of Saint Bernard School in Mill Basin; she
received an M.S. degree in Administration in 2004 from Fordham Universi-
ty; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen Buscemi and her husband, Joseph, live in Bellerose,
New York; they are the proud parents of three wonderful children,
Joseph, Patrick and Erin; and have one beautiful granddaughter, Isabel-
la; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Kathleen Buscemi has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of her colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Kathleen Buscemi has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Kathleen Buscemi upon the occasion of her induction into
the Fontbonne Hall Academy Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kathleen Buscemi.
