LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Carlyle Darron upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition for 75 years of showing Holsteins at
the Wayne County Fair

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations and
individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, The agricultural and dairy industry are part of the founda-
tion upon which our distinct American Heritage is built; New York State
and the entire United States are dependent on our agricultural and dairy
industry for the excellence and variety of American food and dairy
products; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Carlyle Darron upon the occasion of his designation for special recogni-
tion for 75 years of showing Holsteins at the Wayne County Fair; this
auspicious occasion was celebrated in January 2013, at the annual dinner
of the Wayne County Holstein Club; and
WHEREAS, A retired Walworth, New York, dairy farmer, Carlyle Darron
began showing Holsteins at the Wayne County Fair when he was 10 years
old; and
WHEREAS, Carlyle Darron has also shown Holsteins in the Finger Lakes
and at the Monroe County Fair; he has won numerous awards over the
course of his career in dairy farming; and
WHEREAS, Retired from active dairy farming in 1992, Carlyle Darron
still breeds Sheltie dogs, as he has for 65 years; and
WHEREAS, Carlyle Darron served as Walworth town supervisor from 1976
to 1980 and then again from 1986 to 1990; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Carlyle Darron served on the Soil and Water
Conservation Board for Wayne County for more than 30 years, and was a
volunteer firefighter for the West Walworth Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Carlyle Darron and his wife, Doris, are the proud parents of
three children and have nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchil-
dren; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion, presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Carlyle Darron of
Walworth, New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Carlyle Darron upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition for 75 years of showing Holsteins at the Wayne County Fair;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Carlyle Darron.
