LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Sara Erickson upon the occasion of her
designation as a recipient of the 2013 Woman of Achievement Award by the
YWCA of Schenectady

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Sara Erickson upon the occasion of her designation as a recipient of the
2013 Woman of Achievement Award by the YWCA of Schenectady; and
WHEREAS, Sara Erickson received this most prestigious honor at the
30th Annual Women of Achievement Celebration on Thursday, April 18,
2013, at Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia, New York; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Sara Erickson has been
called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless endeavors
and has always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Sara Erickson is an Account Representative for New York State
Industries for the Disabled (NYSID); she moved to Niskayuna, New York,
as a young child and attended Niskayuna Schools, Kindergarten through
12th grade; and
WHEREAS, Sara Erickson's childhood was filled with activities, includ-
ing volunteering at the First Reformed Church of Schenectady and Ellis
Hospital, along with taking swimming and gymnastics lessons at the YWCA
of Schenectady; and
WHEREAS, After high school, Sara Erickson attended Arizona State
University and returned to the Capital District after graduating in
1994; her professional background includes work in both the profit and
not-for-profit sectors, including Sysco Food Services, Gerber Foods,
Pillsbury, the YWCA of Schenectady and NYSID, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, In 2009, Sara Erickson returned to NYSID as their Local
Government Market Specialist and now is an Account Representative;
through New York State-approved contracts for goods and services, NYSID
helps turn business opportunities into jobs for New York residents with
disabilities; and
WHEREAS, An active member of the Capital Region community, Sara Erick-
son is a member of the Junior League of Schenectady & Saratoga Counties,
the YWCA of Northeastern New York's Elected Nominating Committee and the
First Reformed Church of Schenectady; she also serves as a Board Member
on the Town of Niskayuna's Planning Board, the Schenectady County Senior
& Long Term Care Advisory Council, Living Resources and is a volunteer
of the Craig School PTO, the Niskayuna Soccer Club and Niskayuna Base-
ball; and
WHEREAS, Sara Erickson has received several awards and honors such as
the Helen George Volunteer of Distinction Award, the Past President's
Award, the YWCA of Schenectady's Volunteer of the Year Award and the
President's Circle Award; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Hans, and their
children Samantha and Christopher, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Sara Erickson has continually demonstrated extreme compe-
tence, extraordinary intelligence and diligent leadership in her unwav-
ering service to her community and profession; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-

tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sara Erickson upon the occasion of her designation as a recipi-
ent of the 2013 Woman of Achievement Award by the YWCA of Schenectady;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sara Erickson.
