LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the 18 Girl Scouts from the West
Hempstead/Franklin Square Association of Girl Scouts upon the occasion
of receiving the distinguished Girl Scout Silver Award, the most presti-
gious of Cadette Scouting honors, on May 31, 2013

WHEREAS, These exemplary Girl Scouts, through their diligence and rigor-
ous efforts, have achieved Cadette Scouting's highest honor, the Girl
Scout Silver Award; the ceremony will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013,
at Washington Street School in Franklin Square, New York; and
WHEREAS, Gabriela Vasilakis, Mary Marini, Isabella Sperrazza, Allison
Freese, Elizabeth Jose, Amanda Castelli, and Nora Loffy, are members of
Girl Scouts of America Troop 1131; and
WHEREAS, Emily Stiklickas is a member of Girl Scouts of American Troop
1345; and
WHEREAS, Alexandria Brocco, Aylin Ciftcikal, Anastasia Papaleontiou,
Suzan Ciftcikal, Brina Agostini, Kristen DiPalmo, Haroulla Papaleontiou,
and Alanna Barnes, are members of Girl Scouts of America Troop 1843; and
WHEREAS, Katie Flynn and Victoria Romano are members of Girl Scouts of
America Troop 1551; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people the
goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of work-
ing with others stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride, and
encouraging community service and success; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and
WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over a two-year period; it is
tangible evidence of these 18 Girl Scouts' high character and commit-
ment, and is a harbinger of their future service to their community, New
York State and our Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor these 18 Girl Scouts from the West
Hempstead/Franklin Square Association of Girl Scouts upon the occasion
of their designation as recipients of the Girl Scout Silver Award; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned Girl Scouts.
