LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION recognizing Joseph Panzardi upon the occasion of
his designation as a 2013 Memorial Day Distinguished Veteran Honoree

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Members and former members of the Armed Services of the
United States from the State of New York, who have served so valiantly
and honorably in wars in which this country's freedom was at stake, as
well as in the preservation of peace in peace time, deserve a special
salute from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize
Joseph Panzardi upon the occasion of his designation as a 2013 Memorial
Day Distinguished Veteran Honoree; this auspicious occasion will be
celebrated on Monday, May 27, 2013; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Queens Village, New York, Joseph Panzardi
attended Flushing High School and York College; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Panzardi entered military service with the United
States Army in August, 1967, and served overseas in Vietnam and Bad
Kissengen, Germany; he received an honorable discharge in August, 1973;
and
WHEREAS, While on active duty in the United States Army, Joseph
Panzardi was awarded the Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Vietnam
Service and Campaign medals; he also received the Vietnam Cross of
Gallantry, a Presidential Unit Citation and the National Defense Medal;
and
WHEREAS, Joseph Panzardi was also the recipient of the New York State
Conspicuous Service Award and Conspicuous Service Star and Merit medals;
and
WHEREAS, The First Vice-Commander of Edward McKee American Legion Post
131, Joseph Panzardi is Quartermaster and a life member of Whitestone
Community V.F.W. Post 4787; he is also the Secretary and a life member
of Queens Chapter 32 of the Vietnam Veterans of America; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Panzardi held various positions with the Con Edison
Company and retired from Con Ed after 37 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Panzardi and his wife, Maryann, are the proud parents
of three children, Joseph, Jr., Regina Rasa and Antoinette Wanser; they
have four grandchildren, Arianna, Ava and twins, Layla and Jason; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his military, professional
and community service, a period of constructive involvement, Joseph
Panzardi has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has
earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues, family and friends;
and
WHEREAS, Our veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and thanked
by the people of the State of New York for their service and for their
dedication; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize Joseph Panzardi upon the occasion of his designation as a 2013
Memorial Day Distinguished Veteran Honoree; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joseph Panzardi.
