LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Doris Wolf upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2012 Citizen of the Year Award by the
Seneca County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Doris Wolf has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Doris Wolf upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2012
Citizen of the Year Award by the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, to
be celebrated on Friday, January 18, 2013, in Waterloo, New York; and
WHEREAS, Doris Wolf was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and gradu-
ated from Pittsfield High School; she attended Boston University,
Colgate University, Eisenhower College, Syracuse University, Cornell
University and Pennsylvania Press Institute; she has a Bachelor of
Science degree in political journalism; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career, Doris Wolf has been
employed by the BERKSHIRE EAGLE, ASSOCIATED PRESS, PUBLICITY INC., MID-
LAKES WEEKLY, ONEIDA DAILY DISPATCH, FINGER LAKES TIMES, and DEMOCRAT
AND CHRONICLE; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Waterloo, Doris Wolf has demonstrated involve-
ment in the community and in the growth of Seneca County; she is the
founder of Trevor's Gift backpack feeding program, which has distributed
more than 13,000 food packages to nutritionally needy children in Water-
loo; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Doris Wolf received local, state and national
Friend of 4-H Awards and the International Award from the U.S. Agency
for International Development for work in the international exchange
program for youth of Costa Rica; and
WHEREAS, For the past two years, Doris Wolf has adopted a platoon from
Fort Drum consisting of men and women who were deployed to Afghanistan
and Iraq; she has received many other awards, including: the Trailtender
Award; Community Service Award; Rotarian of the Year Award; First Woman
of Distinction Award; and the Matrix Award, to name a few; and
WHEREAS, Listed in WHO'S WHO IN AMERICAN COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES,
and in the SOCIETY OF DISTINGUISHED AMERICAN LEADERS, Doris Wolf has
been called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless civic
and charitable endeavors and has always given of herself unstintingly;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Doris Wolf has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband Alan, and their
children, Terri-Lynn, Patricia, and the late David, as well as their
grandchildren, Zachery, Rachel, Hunter, Joshua, and Ainsley, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Doris Wolf has displayed throughout
her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Doris Wolf upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2012 Citizen of the Year Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Doris Wolf.
