LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring New York State Police Troop C Major
Kevin Molinari on his retirement after nearly 35 years of distinguished

WHEREAS, The quality of life in the communities of the State of New York
is largely reflective of the commitment and dedication demonstrated by
members of the agencies which serve to protect, preserve, and maintain
public order; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who devote their life's work and
purpose to public service, contributing to the care and welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
acknowledge and pay tribute to New York State Police Troop C Major Kevin
Molinari upon the occasion of his retirement after 35 years of distin-
guished service; and
WHEREAS, Oneonta High School graduate Kevin Molinari, commander of New
York State Police Troop C in Sidney, started his career with the New
York State Police on September 25, 1978 and, he is officially retiring
on June 25, 2013 at the mandatory age of 60; his last day at his post is
May 29, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Major Molinari says that in retrospect he could not imagine
doing anything else; he has found his career with the New York State
Police to have been a most rewarding and enjoyable opportunity and one
in which, with the support of his family, he was able to make a positive
change in the lives of many people; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from the New York State Police Academy in
February 1979, he was assigned, as was customary, to three different
barracks for thirty days each, Ithaca, Endwell and finally Norwich,
where he was on permanent assignment until he transferred to the Oneonta
barracks, which, having been born and raised in Oneonta, was something
he wanted; and
WHEREAS, Since his days as a trooper, from 1979 until 1984, when he
was promoted to sergeant, the job has changed a lot and, over the years,
the increase in drug use has led to an increase in violence and, the
advancement of technology over the years has been a major aid and
improvement; and
WHEREAS, Surveillance cameras in public areas are a great tool and
technology and forensic work have given law enforcement a significant
edge in fighting crime and identifying perpetrators; and
WHEREAS, When Major Molinari became a lieutenant in 1988, he was sent
to Troop K in Westchester; and
WHEREAS, Major Molinari returned to Troop C in Oneonta, where, his
wife, Linda, was raising their two children, Meghan and Michael, in June
1989; he was assigned as zone commander in Binghamton; and, in 1992, he
was promoted to captain and was transferred to Troop C headquarters in
Sidney; he was assigned as zone commander in Oneonta in September 1994
and became a major in December 2006; and
WHEREAS, Among Major Molinari's most memorable events over the years
was being assigned to work the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid,
where he had the opportunity to watch the United States Hockey team win
the gold medal; and
WHEREAS, Highly praised and justly recognized for his unwavering
determination, integrity, selfless commitment, professionalism and
preeminent skills, Major Molinari has earned the admiration, esteem and

respect of his colleagues and the Oneonta and other communities he has
served so well for so many years; and
WHEREAS, As Major Kevin Molinari completes his distinguished nearly 35
year career as a law enforcement officer, the dedicated efforts of
public servants, such as Major Molinari, who devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others truly merit the due
praise and just recognition of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Major Kevin Molinari upon the occasion of his retirement from the
New York State Police after nearly 35 years of distinguished service;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Major Kevin Molinari.
