LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating National Industries for the Blind
upon the occasion of celebrating its 75th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late National Industries for the Blind upon the occasion of celebrating
its 75th Anniversary; this auspicious occasion will be celebrated at a
reception to be held at Lighthouse International, 111 East 59th Street,
New York, New York, on Thursday, June 27, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Incorporated on August 10, 1938, the National Industries for
the Blind is the nation's largest employment resource for people who are
blind; and
WHEREAS, National Industries for the Blind enhances the opportunities
for economic and personal independence of persons who are blind, prima-
rily through creating, sustaining and improving employment; and
WHEREAS, In addition, National Industries for the Blind has responsi-
bility for managing the New York State Preferred Source Program for
People Who Are Blind, which employs hundreds of New York residents who
are blind at several nonprofit organizations in order to provide quality
goods and services to state and local government agencies; and
WHEREAS, When companies or municipalities purchase products and
services through the New York State Preferred Source Program for People
Who Are Blind, they help employ hundreds of New Yorkers who are blind or
visually impaired; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the National Industries
for the Blind; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an organ-
ization of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our atten-
tion, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate National Industries for the Blind upon the occasion of
celebrating its 75th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the National Industries for the Blind.
