LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jay Ireland upon the occasion of his
induction into the Shenendehowa Central School District Hall of Distin-
guished Alumni

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their community;
and
WHEREAS, Jay Ireland will be inducted into the Shenendehowa Central
School District Hall of Distinguished Alumni as part of the first class
of inductees during the Shenendehowa Educational Foundation's Green and
White Gala to be held at the Hilton Garden Inn on June 8, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Jay graduated from Shenendehowa High School in 1973; and
WHEREAS, He has worked for General Electric for over 32 years; and
WHEREAS, Jay is currently president and CEO of GE Africa; and
WHEREAS, He is a GE officer and member of its corporate council; and
WHEREAS, Jay was recently honored as International Business Leader of
the Year by Africa Investor, an investment advisory firm; and
WHEREAS, His success as a business leader will long inspire Shenende-
howa students; and
WHEREAS, His induction into the Hall of Distinguished Alumni is a
lasting and fitting tribute to his legacy; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jay Ireland as he is inducted into the Shenendehowa Hall of
Distinguished Alumni; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jay Ireland.
