LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Shaun DiMino of the Town of Lancaster
Police Department upon the occasion of capturing First Place in the
Donald Kieffer Memorial Iron Man Challenge

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Shaun DiMino of the Town of Lancaster Police Department upon the occa-
sion of capturing First Place in the Donald Kieffer Memorial Iron Man
Challenge; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the Erie County Tactical Task Force holds an annu-
al competition and invites SWAT teams from Erie County and from counties
throughout Western and Central New York to compete against one another
in various events to test tactical related skills as well as build team
camaraderie; and
WHEREAS, The final event of the competition is an individual event
that focuses on job related skills with an emphasis on speed, physical
endurance and shooting skill; this event is known as the "Iron Man Chal-
lenge"; and
WHEREAS, The Iron Man Challenge events include: ascending a repel
tower, retrieving a tire attached to a rope hanging off the tower,
retrieving a 35 pound ram and descending the tower, entering into the
shoot house where targets are engaged with firearms and retrieving a
rescue dummy and carrying or dragging it to the finish line; and
WHEREAS, Accurate shooting and speed, with maximum safety, are crit-
ical to succeeding in the Iron Man Challenge event; and
WHEREAS, In fall 2012, Town of Lancaster Police Department Officer
Shaun DiMino captured first place in the Donald Kieffer Memorial Iron
Man Challenge held at the annual Erie County Tactical Task Force SWAT
Competition; and
WHEREAS, Town of Lancaster Police Department Officer Shaun DiMino has
served as a police officer for 11 years and been on the SWAT team for
four years, and as a sniper on the team for three years; he is a
firearms instructor, field training officer and accident reconstruction-
ist; and
WHEREAS, Prior to joining the Town of Lancaster Police Department,
Officer Shaun DiMino served for six years as a member of the Depew
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication and accomplishment
which Town of Lancaster Police Department Officer Shaun DiMino has
demonstrated in capturing first place in the Donald Kieffer Memorial
Iron Man Challenge held at the annual Erie County Tactical Task Force
SWAT Competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Shaun DiMino of the Town of Lancaster Police Department upon the

occasion of capturing First Place in the Donald Kieffer Memorial Iron
Man Challenge; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Shaun DiMino of the Town of Lancaster Police Department.
