LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Quintin B. Bullock upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the President's Award by the Capital
District YMCA

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in recognizing the
outstanding achievements of its esteemed residents; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Quintin B. Bullock will be honored by the Capital
District YMCA with its prestigious President's Award during a dinner to
be held at the Albany Marriott on April 23, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bullock was selected for this honor by the Schenectady
YMCA; and
WHEREAS, He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Med and a
Master of Education (Biology) degree from Prairie View A&M University, a
Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Dental Branch of the University
of Texas Health Science Center, and AEGD and General Practice of Dentis-
try certificates from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and
Dentistry; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bullock has received leadership training at the League of
Innovation in the Community College Executive Leadership Institute, the
American Association for Community Colleges Future Leaders Program, the
Thomas Larkin Institute for Mentored Leadership, the Wharton/IRHE
Program in Higher Education, and the Harvard Seminar for New Presidents;
and
WHEREAS, He served in several positions at Monroe Community College,
including Adjunct Associate Professor, Director of the Center for Urban
Educational Studies, Affirmative Action and Diversity Officer, and Exec-
utive Dean of the Damon City Campus; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bullock then served Tidewater Community College as
Adjunct Professor in the Biology Department, then as Provost of the
Norfolk Campus and then Provost of the Virginia Beach Campus; and
WHEREAS, He has served as President of Schenectady County Community
College (SCCC) since 2009; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bullock has developed a Five-Year Strategic Plan, estab-
lished new business, industry and community partnerships, facilitated
the development and launching of new academic and career programs, led
the development and launching of an Early College High School, expanded
dual enrollment course offerings with high schools, and secured over $12
million in state, federal, and private grants; and
WHEREAS, He contributes his time to the Chamber of Schenectady County,
the 50 Group, Center for Economic Growth, Ellis Hospital, Free Health
Clinic, American Council on Education, Schenectady County Department of
Health, and the American Association for Community Colleges; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Bullock has exhibited the true spirit of this prestigious
award through his tireless commitment to the community; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dr. Quintin B. Bullock upon the occasion of his designation
as recipient of the President's Award by the Capital District YMCA; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Quintin B. Bullock.
