LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Naomi and David Kaszovitz upon the
occasion of their designation as the Guests of Honor at the 32nd Annual
Dinner of Young Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst on April 14, 2013

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the Empire State are
greatly enriched by the faithful and generous service of those who
devote themselves to endeavors of family, faith and community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals of such magnanimous conduct and bearing who demon-
strate a deep and continuing concern for others, and in so doing,
inspire others to do the same; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Naomi and David Kaszovitz upon the occasion of their designation as the
Guests of Honor at the 32nd Annual Dinner of Young Israel of Lawrence-
Cedarhurst, to be held at Congregation Beth Sholom in Lawrence on
Sunday, April 14, 2013; and
WHEREAS, In honoring Naomi and David Kaszovitz, Young Israel of
Lawrence-Cedarhurst (YILC) recognizes a couple who have a long associ-
ation with the synagogue and pays fitting tribute to them for their
tireless efforts on behalf of the shul and the community; and
WHEREAS, Naomi and David Kaszovitz have been an integral part of Young
Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst since their arrival in the community from
Forest Hills in 1993 with two, at the time, small children, Alex and
Sarah; at the time the shul was in the midst of Project Nedivim, adding
what is now its main sanctuary and its ballroom, the backbone of the
shul; and
WHEREAS, Rather than sit on the sidelines, David Kaszovitz quickly got
involved with the shul; no job was too small or too large for him; he
served as Gabbai, Ritual Chairman, Vice President and then as the shul's
President for three years; during his presidency Project Chazak, encom-
passing the construction of three new batei midrash and a youth center,
were in progress and, following the completion of his presidency, he
served as Chairman of the Board; and
WHEREAS, Naomi Kaszovitz also became very involved in the synagogue
and gave considerable time to its Sisterhood, serving as programming
chairperson and on several committees, including the hospitality and
youth committees and, she later served a two year term as President of
the Sisterhood; and
WHEREAS, David Kaszovitz grew up in Far Rockaway and is a graduate of
HALB, MTA, Queens College and the New York University School of Business
from which he earned his Master of Business Administration degree; he
currently works at FieldOne, a computer software firm supporting the
service related industry and is a Bar Mitzvah training teacher well
known in the community, encouraging many future Baaley K'ri'a, and
himself reads the Torah at the shul on a regular basis; and
WHEREAS, Naomi Kaszovitz grew up in nearby Oceanside and is also a
graduate of HALB, HAFTR High School and Stern College and earned her
Juris Doctor degree from the Cardozo School of Law; she worked as an
attorney for the City of New York in Family Court before joining her
father and brother in the insurance business; she is currently employed
at The Rampart Group and is also the Head Coach of the Stern College
women's tennis team and has run the tennis and sports programs at Camp
Levi for the past 12 years; and
WHEREAS, Both Naomi and David Kaszovitz have built second careers
helping to shape the lives of students both on and off the tennis court
and credit their devotion to community involvement to their parents,

Gabriel and Bonnie Kaszovitz and Arnold z"l and Beverly Skolnick, who
are each pillars of their respective communities and taught gemilut
chesed by example; and
WHEREAS, Naomi and David Kaszovitz are devoted to their children, and
are proud to welcome the newest addition to their family, son-in-law
Netanel Goldstein from West Rogers Park, Chicago, who recently married
their daughter Sarah; Alex, Sarah, Josh and Eitan have followed in their
parents' footsteps and are all HALB graduates; currently Alex and Neta-
nel attend Yeshiva University, Sarah is at Stern College and Josh and
Eitan are students at DRS Yeshiva High School for Boys; and
WHEREAS, The shul is the common spiritual home of a congregation; in
it rests the heritage of the Jewish people and from it stems the teach-
ing and the practice of its treasured values and traditions; and
WHEREAS, In recognizing Naomi and David Kaszovitz for their many years
of inspirational and devoted service to the synagogue, Young Israel of
Lawrence-Cedarhurst proudly honors a couple who exemplify the highest
aims and ideals of the Young Israel movement, adherence to Torah and
mitzvot, maintenance of the traditions of the Jewish people, both at
home and in the land of Israel, and commitment to their community and
American society; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the course of their service to Young Israel of
Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Naomi and David Kaszovitz have exhibited uncommon
valor and wisdom; their involvement and leadership have been character-
ized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncom-
promising standard of excellence in all their endeavors on behalf of the
synagogue; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to extend its highest commen-
dation to Naomi and David Kaszovitz for their dedication and commitment
to their community and their heritage; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to pay
tribute to Naomi and David Kaszovitz upon the occasion of their desig-
nation as the Guests of Honor at the 32nd Annual Dinner of Young Israel
of Lawrence-Cedarhurst on April 14, 2013; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Naomi and David Kaszovitz.
