LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Laura and Yaron Kornblum upon the
occasion of their designation by the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns
and Rockaway as the Guests of Honor at its 35th Annual Dinner on March
10, 2013

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the Empire State are
greatly enriched by the faithful and generous service of those who
devote themselves to endeavors of family, faith and community, and to
the education of the youth of the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals of such magnanimous conduct and bearing who demon-
strate a deep and continuing concern for others, and in so doing,
inspire others to do the same; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Laura and Yaron Kornblum upon the occasion of their designation by the
Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway (HAFTR) as the Guests of
Honor at its 35th Annual Dinner, to be held in HAFTR's Sports Complex on
Sunday, March 10, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The greatest asset of any society is its children and the
hope and promise they represent for the future; the Hebrew Academy of
the Five Towns and Rockaway, of Lawrence, New York, has a proud and rich
history of providing its students with an educational and religious
foundation which is both strong and enduring; and
WHEREAS, Each year at its Annual Dinner, the Hebrew Academy of the
Five Towns and Rockaway honors members of the school community in recog-
nition and appreciation of their support of the yeshiva and its mission,
as well as of their dedication to Jewish life; this year at its 35th
Annual Dinner it will proudly honor Laura and Yaron Kornblum as its
Guests of Honor; and
WHEREAS, Laura and Yaron Kornblum reside in Woodmere, New York and are
the proud and loving parents of two beautiful children, Amanda and
Benjamin; both Laura and Yaron have been devoted to HAFTR and various
other charitable organizations; they are committed to their family, to
education, and to their community, traits instilled in them by their
parents Richard and Virginia Gordimer and Rabbi Shalom and Sara Kornb-
lum; and
WHEREAS, Laura grew up in Tampa, Florida and attended Yeshiva Univer-
sity's Stern College; she subsequently earned a master's degree in
English Education from Columbia University's Teachers College; Laura
Kornblum has taught in various prominent yeshivot in the tri-state area;
she was a creative writing teacher in the HAFTR Middle School for two
years before assuming her current position as a 12th grade English
instructor at the Torah Academy for Girls; and
WHEREAS, She has, in addition, been involved in numerous PTA commit-
tees over the years and in various charitable projects in the community;
and
WHEREAS, Yaron Kornblum was raised in Brooklyn and is a graduate of
the Yeshiva of Flatbush, The Brooklyn College Scholars Program, and
Hofstra Law School; he is a partner in the real estate department of the
law firm Rivkin Radler LLP and practices in all areas of commercial real
estate throughout the United States and internationally; and
WHEREAS, Yaron Kornblum has served as a Co-President of HAFTR; he
continues to serve on the Finance Committee and frequently volunteers
his time as legal counsel to the school; he currently also serves as the
Chairman of the Gym Committee and was instrumental in the construction
of its brand new sports complex; and

WHEREAS, Following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, Yaron co-found-
ed HaftrCares and continues to be active within the HAFTR lay leadership
as well as in other charitable organizations in the New York City metro-
politan area; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to extend its highest commen-
dation to Laura and Yaron Kornblum for their dedication and commitment
to their heritage and to their community and its children; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Laura and Yaron Kornblum upon the occasion of their designation
by the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway as the Guests of
Honor at its 35th Annual Dinner on March 10, 2013; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Laura and Yaron Kornblum.
